Through these paintings, I aim to convey a sense of freedom. The vibrant colors felt whimsical and playful, while the hard black edges represent the drama and weightiness of the mountains. I hope you can feel the joyful rush of the summit and also a sense of grounded depth amidst a clamor of color.
Creating this collection was a lifeline for me, providing direction and purpose when I felt lost.

LIFT YOUR EYES is my first collection of paintings using acrylic pouring techniques, masking, and hand touch-ups. Each painting is derived from a photo I took myself while on some of my favorite hikes in the Pacific Northwest.

Being an artist and a contemplative hiker has been a source of life for me and an important part of my recovery—both from addiction and from trauma. I hope that my art can be a source of hope and healing for you too! It is on the mountaintop of God's presence, the trail of contemplation, and the peaks of literal mountain ranges that we can see the horizon, sense the vastness of God, and find peace in being so small. The mountains make it easier to surrender.
